Suarez doesn’t do anything particularly fancy at this freekick; while other players are crossing, weaving and feinting at the far post, he simply positions himself goalside of his man, hopes that by the time the ball is played he will be onside as the defenders collapse back on their goal, and trusts Adam’s well known set piece ability. Richardson, who had already conceded a penalty against Suarez by this point and should have been sent off, lets him get free too easily:
1-1 Larsson
As Gyan receives the ball from the throw in, he is closed down by two Liverpool players, Enrique (3) and Adam (26). Suarez (7) should see Elmohamady free on the wing and move back to cover him, but he doesn’t:
Adam gets drawn to the ball. It’s difficult to see what he’s adding by standing directly behind Enrique. A little more situational awareness and he might have noticed that Elmohamady was free:
Flanagan seems a touch slow to react to the ball going over his head, which gives Larsson just enough space to produce a fantastic volley:
